Fruhen Messebau GmbH & Co. KG is certified as Sustainable Company powered by FAMAB

Sustainability isn’t just a passing fad. For this reason, Fruhen Messebau GmbH & Co. KG has faced up our responsibilities and, in the last six months, have prepared for certification as “Sustainable Company powered by FAMAB”.

Since the start of the year (2015) we have held the certificate and are pleased to say that our long-term dedication is now documented for the benefit of our customers.

Notes regarding the certification and the way it was achieved:

In a pilot project, FAMAB, Verband Direkte Wirtschaftskommunikation e.V. in conjunction with established partner CO2OL and Viabono have developed industry standards for sustainable economy in live communication. In accordance with this and based on a comprehensive catalogue of criteria covering nine sectors, companies are examined with a view to sustainable conduct and are able to carry the above seal of approval when the examination is passed.

In the development of their industry standard, FAMAB has deliberately decided against the existing certification offerings and declared industry relevance, practicality and transparency to be the credo for the establishment of the standard. “It is important to us that the criteria used for certification are 100% suitable for the entire industry and are transparent and logical for all”, says association manager Jan Kalbfleisch.

Specifically, in accordance with the industry requirement, nine sustainability relevant company sectors have been identified for the standard. This includes numerous measures for sustainable company management. But not all measures are weighted equally: They have been weighted by industry insiders along with sustainability experts into high, medium and low priorities and are individually checked, assessed and points awarded according to context during the course of certification. At the end of the day, a company may only call itself “Sustainable Company powered by FAMAB” if it is “state of the art”, for example, within the framework of energy use, waste prevention and mobility as well as employee responsibility.

  • FAMAB, Verband Direkte Wirtschaftskommunikation

    Direct economic communication passes from person to person, by way of set spaces, organised times, perceptible brand experiences, experienced messages. This makes this form of marketing unique.

    The FAMAB, Verband Direkte Wirtschaftskommunikation is the network of specialists in this segment. Founded in 1963, it has been in operation for almost 50 years and, with around 250 members, it is the voice of the industry and its tasks include the promotion of success of the client in live marketing for brand and trade fair presences. This self-awareness results in a series of projects and measures established for the benefit of the clients. Further, the quality claim of the company is underlined in FAMAB with the introduction of its quality codex. It has long been self-evident for members that it is necessary rto implement ethical and business principles, to behave in a legal way in all actions and to work sustainably. Companies support this obligation with the signing of the codex. Further, the declaration of intent, with its five phase model provides a starting point for the contractor to organise project management in a more seamless and efficient way.

    With the “Sustainable Company powered by FAMAB” seal, the association makes an additional contribution to securing the high quality requirements of the industry. The certificate is, from the very beginning, an appreciated proof of sustainable business management with regard to economy, ecology and social responsibility.

  • CO2OL is a brand of the Bonn-based ForestFinance group and has already been a provider of successful industrial climate protection since 1998. One focus of the portfolio is on the event and meeting industry: In the hostelry, events and trade fair sector, CO2OL has extensive experience in carbon footprinting and in the provision of online CO2 calculators. More than 500 events and meetings have already been successfully looked after by CO2OL in this way. The specially developed GreenMobility platform, an online tool for the reduction of CO2 emissions in the travel of visitors, has been used in, for example, the FIS Alpine Ski championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2011, the BMW Frankfurt Marathon and the IIHF world championship in 2010. Further, CO2OL is the initiator of the mygreenmeeting.de competence network. In order to ensure that events are more climate-friendly, CO2OL pursues a multi-stage method: First the entire expected greenhouse gas emission is calculated and potential options are shown that will help to avoid and reduce emissions. Emissions that cannot be further reduced may subsequently be balanced out with internationally recognised climate protection certificates.
